Thankfulness

Dear Cathedral Family,
In this Sunday’s Gospel, we meet a grateful Samaritan who reminds us that it is Jesus’ presence that makes healing, wholeness, inclusion and even thankfulness itself possible. Meeting Jesus changes everything.
This week’s Harvest Moon is creation’s reminder that we have entered the season of harvesting the fruits of God’s goodness and bounty. From here, we move straight toward Thanksgiving, not only as a national holiday but as a way of living.
This is the season in which, as the Body of Christ in this place, we give thanks for God’s goodness to us and return to God our gifts of thankfulness and praise. You will soon be receiving information about our stewardship for 2026, focused on telling the stories of our lives within the Cathedral Family, how we have felt loved, healed, and included here together. “Tell Out My Soul” will be our theme, and I look forward to hearing more about our stories along with you.
One special event this Sunday is a particular occasion for thanksgiving: our new Cathedral Organist and Choirmaster, Dr. Joshua Coble, will present his inaugural organ recital this Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. We have been blessed by Josh’s extraordinary talents as a musician and as a leader, and he is also a joy to work with and an all-around good guy. I hope that many of you will be present on Sunday afternoon for his recital and for the reception to follow in the Chapter House.
Faithfully,
Beverly+
