Joshua H. Coble, Organist and Choirmaster
Josh comes from First United Methodist Church in Montgomery, where he has served for eight of his total twenty years of experience as a church music director and organist.
Josh holds a master’s degree in sacred music from Samford University and a doctorate in organ performance from the University of Alabama. He has also served congregations in Nashville, Tennessee and Madison and Birmingham, Alabama before moving to Montgomery. Josh has worked with adult, youth, and children’s choirs, as well as hand bell choirs, and he enjoys teaching and sharing his love of organ performance.
Mollie Adams, cantor
Mollie Adams is a warm, vibrant soprano gaining a reputation for her "animated stage presence and vivacious and strong soprano voice." Cultivating a wide-ranging career of singing opera, oratorio, art song, jazz, and chamber music, Ms. Adams has been seen in a wide scope of musical performances. She has been an active recitalist and soloist, with an emphasis on art song interpretations.
Ms. Adams recently performed the role of Annina, from Verdi's opera La Traviata, with Mobile Opera. She was last seen on the stage with Mobile Opera Company in the role of Mary Stone in The Devil and Daniel Webster, by Douglas Moore. Previous roles and performances have included The Mikado, Dvorak requiem, and several solo performances.
Her collaborations with the Magnolia Chamber Orchestra have brought her throughout the Gulf Coast, presenting early chamber works of Handel, Vivaldi, and Bach. Equally at home with new works, Ms. Adams premiered the role of Ms. Dara in Dan Shore’s NOA chamber award winning opera, An Embarrassing Position. She was also praised for her “fine acting and vocal performance” as the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos.
Throughout her career, Ms. Adams has performed in such venues as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, The White House, Mount Vernon, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Disney World, The Cutler Majestic Theater, and performed with numerous touring shows and performers.
Ms. Adams is a dynamic performer of sacred music ranging from Jewish folk song to Anglican music, with an interest in both solo and choral collaborations. Her educational outreach and interpretations of jazz and art song has also proven to be a favorite of audiences.
Ms. Adams is a Voice Instructor and Adjunct Professor at the University of Mobile and keeps an active teaching studio. She is continually studying the importance of voice science in pedagogy and her use of functional voice technique helps her students to thrive in both the classical and contemporary realms of singing.
Myles Garver, cantor
Mobile, AL native Myles Garver has established his reputation as a tenor of rich and varied performance experience, having sung with Fort Worth Opera, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Mobile Opera, Pensacola Opera, Asheville Lyric, Brevard Music Center, Opera Louisiane, LSU Opera, and University of South Alabama Opera. Myles also enjoys engagements as a concert soloist and recitalist, having sung rarer pieces like Saint-Saëns Requiem and Vaughan-Williams’ Serenade to Music, along with classics such as Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Brahms’ Requiem, and Handel’s Messiah.
In 2022, Myles relocated back to Mobile, AL, performing with Mobile Opera in La Cantarina (2022), Le nozze di Figaro (2023), Gallantry (2025), Trouble in Tahiti (2025), Die Fledermaus (2025), and The Magic Flute (2026). Recent engagements also include Fort Worth Opera (2023, 2024). In addition to singing, Myles continues his lifelong engagement as a professional percussionist with numerous local bands and artists, including Blow House Brass Band, The Wrong Terns, and Port City Samba School.
Devin Burton, cantor
Devin D. Burton, baritone, is a native of Hartselle, Alabama. Mr. Burton earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Montevallo, where he studied with Dr. Roderick George, tenor. While in Alabama, he also sang as a baritone soloist and section leader with the choir of Independent Presbyterian Church in Birmingham under Dr. Jeff McLelland, and at Southside Baptist Church under Dr. Joseph Paul Dease.
Burton attended The University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance where he studied with renowned tenor Vinson Cole. During his time in Kansas City, he served as baritone section leader and soloist at Trinity Lutheran Church (Mission, KS) under Ben Spalding, and spent four years as a Music Ministry Intern at Village Presbyterian Church (Prairie Village, KS) under the direction of Matthew Shepard and the late Mark Ball.
His recent engagements include serving as baritone soloist for Messiah by G. F. Handel with Spring Hill Presbyterian Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Additional performance credits
include Fauré’s Requiem, Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs and Dona Nobis Pacem, Finzi’s In Terra Pax, and Rutter’s Mass of the Children. Operatic roles include John Brooke (Little Women), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Harry Easter (Street Scene) with UMKC Opera, Aeneas (Dido and Aeneas) with the Kansas City Baroque Consortium, Sid (Albert Herring), the Ferryman (Curlew River), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), and Adam in Haydn’s Die Schöpfung (The Creation). He also appeared as soloist in Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem with Village Presbyterian Church at Helzberg Hall in Kansas City.
Mr. Burton continues to be recognized for his warm baritone tone, stylistic versatility, and commitment to expressive, communicative performance.
For nearly two centuries, Christ Church has enjoyed beautiful organ music within its walls. Over the years, four different pipe organs have occupied this space. Ours is an organ tradition we can be proud of and must maintain. Our pipe organ has been the “voice of our space,” and with continued maintenance it can play this role for generations to come.
