Dear Cathedral Family,
This Sunday will be Youth Sunday at Christ Church Cathedral! In their planning for the year last fall, our young people were clear that they wanted a Sunday on which to lead our worship, and Mother’s Day became the day.
They will be greeters, ushers, and readers; intercessor, psalmist, and preacher; teachers and inspirations. I know you will delight in seeing and hearing from this generation of leaders in our church.
I have enjoyed my time with them this year immensely, and I have learned so much from them and been inspired by them to have great hopes for the church in years to come. And they are fun to be around!
You join me, I know, in giving thanks for the adult leadership of Lissa Watkins in giving new life to our Youth Advisory Council and in companioning our young people in EYC as well as the Affirm class on Sunday afternoons. “Affirm” is the name our youth chose for their time together in prayer and scripture reading, and I am thankful for the leadership of Carolyn Jeffers and Caroline Etherton with the Affirm Bible study during the first part of the school year. I was blessed by my time with the Affirm class during Lent and Holy Week, as we explored our faith and our tradition together.
As we come closer to the end of the school year and the beginning of summer break, please join me in prayers of thanksgiving for our young people and in praying for their continuing growth in knowledge and love of the Lord. And please come show them your support this Sunday!
Faithfully,
Beverly+
