Dear Cathedral Family,
The diocesan diaconate ordination last Saturday, May 2 was a wonderful day of celebration. I am thankful for the servant ministry of The Reverends Thomas Heard and Pratt Paterson, music director Dr. Joshua Coble and choir, children’s and family ministry coordinator Sabrina Evans, and all the volunteers who greeted, wrangled, and offered hospitality to our diocesan family on Saturday. You may access pictures here and recordings of the sermon and service here.
This Sunday will be Mother’s Day, not exactly a liturgical holiday and yet an important day for many and an opportunity for honoring all the women in our lives who form, nurture, support, and guide us. We will recognize all our Sunday School teachers and other leaders of youth formation and thank them for their loving care of our young members over the last program year.
We will also welcome young Virginia Ruzic into the household of God here at Christ Church Cathedral as we celebrate her baptism in worship this Sunday. We will all renew our baptismal vows along with her parents and sponsors, and we will make our promises to support her in her life in Christ. Baptism Sundays are always days of great joy and hope, as well as reminders of the responsibilities we all share for each other in the Body of Christ. Virginia joins her brother Watts among the growing numbers of our young children in the Cathedral Family, a great blessing in our life together.
As the calendar moves toward summer, please look for more information coming soon about Vacation Bible School plans, summer schedules for worship and formation, and some long anticipated movement in our termite repair construction.
I hope you and your families enjoy this sweet spring season of celebrations, graduations, and growth.
Faithfully,
Beverly+
