Season of New Life

Dear Cathedral Family,
Spring is the season of new life and growth in all aspects of created life, in the natural as well as the human worlds. Our young people begin new stages in their journey to adulthood as they close one school year and move toward another, and we witness their growth in life with wonder and thanksgiving. And we pray, both for them and their flourishing and safety and for ourselves to be wise guides and supporters and to keep “home base” open and available to them.
Last Sunday in the Cathedral Family was a beautiful day of celebration and prayer for our youth and high school graduates. Their service as our ministers for the day was an amazing showing of their poise, maturity, and readiness to lead in our life as the Church. They were outstanding—as ushers and greeters, as readers and intercessors, and our preacher was amazing! You can listen to Livy’s sermon here, and you can watch the whole service here.
As the calendar turns to May this week, Saturday will bring the ordination of three new deacons for the Church here at the Cathedral. Thank you to all who will volunteer on that day, helping to make it a special one in the lives of these new servant leaders.
I am deeply grateful for the ministries of The Reverends Thomas Heard and Pratt Paterson, who will assume responsibility for Saturday’s service as well as Sunday worship this week. I will be away for our daughter Elinor’s college graduation, as our family celebrates this milestone in our lives.
I have been greatly blessed in our life as the Cathedral Family to walk this journey of growth with your families and to have your companionship in the way for the growth of mine.
Faithfully,
Beverly+
