Palm Sunday

Dear Cathedral Family,

This Palm Sunday we will return to the fullness of our experience of this holy day, when we enter the sacred time of Holy Week. This day takes us from the hosannas of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem through his final hours with the disciples, his betrayal, arrest, accusation, and passion.

We will begin in the garden, where our children will gather with their palm branches and lead us, following the Liturgy of the Palms, into the church. In the Liturgy of the Word, we will all participate in a congregational reading of Luke’s passion gospel. At this point, our worship will take a somber turn into the journey through Holy Week toward the cross, for which this day serves as prelude and summary.

From Monday through Good Friday, we will gather each day at noon in the church for worship. In addition, there will be a Maundy Thursday Eucharist with foot washing in the chapel at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday at noon will be available via live stream.

Our Easter preparations will continue Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. as we decorate the church together for the Day of the Resurrection. Many thanks to our Easter Egg Hunt helpers who are preparing for this festive event once again this year in Mardi Gras Park following our congregational picture in the church after worship.

Blessings on your times of reflection and prayer this week. There is much in our broken and suffering world for Christ to gather within his saving embrace on the cross. As you walk the way of the cross this week, may you find it the way of life and peace.

Faithfully,

Beverly+
