Dear Cathedral Family,
This weekend Christ Church Cathedral will celebrate the gift and opportunity of serving the people of the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast as their cathedral for the past 20 years.
On Saturday, we will host the ordination of four new deacons for our diocese, welcoming their families, friends, and congregations along with our diocesan clergy to a special day in their lives and in the life of our diocese. We always need and welcome as many of you as are able to come and help as greeters and hosts for the day. The day begins at 9 a.m. with morning hospitality and a rehearsal of the service. The ordination itself will begin at 11:00 a.m. and is followed by refreshments in the Chapter House.
Sunday will be the 20th Annual Cathedral Celebration and our bishop’s annual parochial visit. Bishop Kendrick will baptize, confirm, and receive members of the Cathedral Family, and he will preach and celebrate. This day begins with the bishop’s forum with confirmands and their families in the chapel at 9 a.m., and anyone is welcome to attend. The service begins at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a vestry and chapter meeting with the bishop and a picnic lunch for everyone honoring our newly baptized, confirmed and received Cathedral Family.
I hope that many of you will be present for some or all of this weekend’s festivities, which remind us of the bonds we share with the whole Church in our life in Christ. This is both an opportunity to serve and to celebrate!
Faithfully,
Beverly+
