Many Loving Hands

Dear Cathedral Family,

As we prepare to enter this new program year together here at Christ Church Cathedral, I am especially thankful for the gifts, enthusiasm, and hard work of so many of our lay leaders.

Preparation for this Saturday’s diocesan Acolyte Festival has been the work of many loving hands—organizing, setting up spaces, cooking, making ready to welcome. All of this prepares us to open our doors in welcome to the young people from throughout our diocese for whom this Cathedral is also their home. The love and the joy that you all share with them before and during this event is a tremendous gift—and the willingness of many of you to clean up, turn around spaces, and prepare for Sunday is a grace-filled gift as well.

This Sunday at announcement time, you will be hearing from some of our young families involved in diocesan service as part of the Beckwith Board. They will be inviting you to support and attend this year’s Baylights at Beckwith weekend, September 26-28. This year the Cathedral is once again hosting the Friday night cookout at the beginning of the weekend, and if you have never been this is a great introduction to a time of relaxed fun and fellowship with friends old and new from throughout the diocese. Having the presence and support of many of you would be a beautiful expression of the shared love of the Church.

We have so much to be thankful for in our shared life together, and this weekend is a wonderful example of how we nurture and grow the bonds of affection that unite us in Christ.
