Manifestation of the Light

Dear Cathedral Family,

The story begins this Sunday, with the baptism of Jesus. This week of the Epiphany marks the manifestation of the light of Christ that will lead us through the seasons of the year to come, as we follow Him through the times of his ministry, and ours. The Proclamation of the Date of Easter (which you will find at below) is made by the minister at the celebration of the Epiphany, and it will be repeated this Sunday for those of you who did not hear it Tuesday evening.

You will see that Easter comes very early this year, and from that date all other dates are reckoned. In real time that means our life together will move quickly here at the beginning of the year. I am confident you are ready for a strong start!

This Sunday we will also bless the chalk to be used in our homes for Epiphany blessings, and the chalk and blessing instructions will be available for you to take home at the end of the service. Our children will be blessing our home here at Christ Church Cathedral during their Sunday School time this Sunday.

This Sunday is also the date of the Mobile Marathon, which begins and ends in our front yard, Mardi Gras Park. The race will begin early, and our parking and access to the buildings should be clear by the time you arrive. The finish line has been moved to Government Street and Royal, so the problems of last year should be remedied. Please consult the attached map of the marathon route to see how you may need to adjust your route to church on Sunday.

You will also find information in this email about important upcoming events, including the Annual Parish Meeting on January 25 following worship. At this meeting you will hear reports on 2025 ministries and finances along with plans for 2026 ministries and budget. There will be an update on building repairs, as well.

We were blessed in our life together as the Cathedral Family in 2025, and 2026 will hold blessings and challenges of its own, which we will meet together, with God’s help.

Faithfully,

Beverly+
