Happy Mardi Gras!

Dear Cathedral Family,
Happy Mardi Gras! Please note that our service this Sunday will be at 8 a.m. This earlier time is a trial response to the increasing difficulty we have experienced with navigating downtown Mobile and dealing with parking challenges on Joe Cain Day. Parking will be on-street only, and you will need the purple church parking pass in order to do so safely.
In years past, as I have opened our front gates before church, early parade goers have expressed surprise that we are “having church” on Joe Cain Day. My usual response is that it is the Lord’s Day, and for us the Last Sunday After the Epiphany, and that they are welcome to come and worship with us! Although we have had few takers over the years, most folks are respectful and accommodating when asked to leave room for people to enter the front of the church. If you want an early start to the day, and are up for the sights of downtown Mobile on the day of the “people’s procession,” I hope you will join us.
Our offices will be closed for the Mardi Gras festivities Friday, February 13 through Tuesday, February 17. We will reopen on Ash Wednesday at 9 a.m. Our services that day will be at noon and 5:30 p.m. in the church, and the noon service will be live-streamed. Our bishop will be with us for both services that day.
Look for information about Lenten formation and devotional opportunities in this email and on the website, as I know that you all will be ready to keep a holy Lent beginning next Wednesday! Between now and then, have a festive and safe Mardi Gras celebration.
Faithfully,
Beverly+
