All Saints' Sunday

Dear Cathedral Family,

After you fall back into standard time this weekend, I hope that you will be rested and ready for our All Saints’ Celebration this Sunday. We will sing the beloved hymns, hear the scripture readings of hope and promise, and lift up in our prayers all those who have gone before us into the full light of God’s love. The music will be glorious, the weather should be delightful, and we will gather following our worship for a special time of celebration together in which we give thanks for over 200 years of being Christian community together here at Christ Church. There will be special food and an inflatable play area for the children in Mardi Gras Park, and there will be some special treats for the adults, as well.

And one more, important, thing: In anticipation of increasing need among our neighbors for food assistance, we will be making grocery bags for distribution through our Blessing Box and food pantry. Please take a few minutes during our time together on Sunday to help us share our resources with those in need.

If you have not heard the beautiful presentation made last Sunday by our 2026 stewardship chairs, Terri and Richard Gaal, by all means click this link to listen to their stories and their message to you. You should be receiving by mail a letter from them, along with a pledge card, over the next few days. More pledge cards will be available this Sunday in the pews and on the ministry table in the Chapter House. And, of course, you can make your pledge online, where you will also find all videos and information for this year’s campaign, “Tell Out My Soul.” Our ingathering will be on Christ the King Sunday, November 23.

This long weekend is one of the “thin places” in the year, when the seen and unseen realms of existence feel closest together, and when we are especially aware of the bonds that connect all of life in this world and the next. As Christians, we are reminded that we never walk through this life alone, that we live and work in communion with each other—as the Cathedral Family, as the household of God throughout the world, as the creation loved and redeemed by the One who dwells in all. I look forward to being together this Sunday to give thanks for our life together and to commit ourselves to the life ahead.

Faithfully,

Beverly+
