Advent

Dear Cathedral Family,

This week of gratitude and Thanksgiving moves directly into the beginning of a new Church year. While we give thanks for God’s goodness to us in the past year, we look forward to keeping a holy Advent.

In joining the journey with Mary and Joseph, you and I are invited to consider our own calls to serve. As you listen for that call in this season of love and light, I invite you to make time for prayer, wonder, companionship, reverence and attention. Beginning on Sunday, December 1, you will be receiving a daily email containing a work of art and the day’s gospel reading from the Daily Office. Advent devotional materials for children and families are available in the Chapter House, and I would encourage everyone to include the daily lighting of an Advent wreath, along with prayer and scripture, as a part of your Advent-keeping. You will be receiving a separate email detailing Advent and Christmas events here at the Cathedral, including worship services and musical events.

Following worship this Sunday, we will have a brief parish meeting for the purpose of electing a new vestry slate and delegates to our diocesan convention. There will also be an update on stewardship for 2025 and a wrap-up for stewardship in 2024.

In our worship this Sunday, we will pray for grace to cast away the works of darkness and put on the armor of light, both in this present life and in preparation for the life to come. I look forward to making this Advent journey with you all, as we walk in love and live in light together.

Faithfully,

Beverly+
