Dear Cathedral Family,
We have gotten off to a strong start in our new program year here in the Cathedral Family. The energy, excitement, and ownership around the ministry tables in the Chapter House was fun to feel on Sunday morning, and I am grateful to the many of you who showed up to welcome others into the life we share together.
If you did not get a chance to sign up for a new or existing ministry, it’s not too late! This email contains links to our website, where you can still enlist in many ministries.
I am thankful for The Reverend Thomas Heard’s presence with us here at the Cathedral in his retirement—and for his willingness to share his liturgical expertise with our lay ministers. This Sunday immediately after worship, he will be meeting with all our present and potential acolytes at the altar for a brief time of learning and training. And next Sunday, September 22, he will be available to meet with any new (and not-new) adult lay ministers—readers, psalmist/intercessors, chalice bearers, etc.—at the same time and place. If you have ever had any questions about what we do and why we do it in worship, this is your chance to ask!
The music program year also got off to a great beginning this week with the organ duo of Elizabeth Gatter and Christopher Powell, present and past music directors and organists here at the Cathedral. A robust and enthusiastic crowd of local music lovers and parishioners gathered for an hour of glorious music. Not to be missed: Mollie Adams’ narration of Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” accompanied by organ duo.
I am heartened by the enthusiasm and engagement so many of you have shown here at the year’s beginning and look forward to sharing the months ahead with you all.
Faithfully,
Beverly+
