Thanksgiving

Dear Cathedral Family,

I hope that this Thanksgiving week has been for you a time of being with loved ones and of awareness and gratitude for the abundance of God’s gifts in our lives.

This last Sunday after Pentecost is Christ the King Sunday, when we celebrate the mystery that Christ is both already present and will come again in some new way. Our readings are both encouragement in loving care for all who suffer or are in need and reminder that our response to them will be the decisive criterion of judgment.

The final words of Jesus’ “farewell discourse” in Matthew’s gospel are our bridge to the upcoming season of Advent, when we watch and wait and prepare for Christ’s coming again. You will be receiving an email next week containing information and links to resources for Advent devotional materials as well as details about worship, music, and formation during the season ahead.

The first Sunday of Advent, December 3, is also the date of our annual meeting for the purpose of Vestry and convention delegate elections, and we will also have a report on our stewardship, both for 2023 and 2024.

We have much to be thankful for as the Cathedral Family, and we are also richly responsible for the continuing mission of Christ Church. I am thankful to walk together with you during this season of our shared life.

Faithfully,

Beverly+
