PASTORAL CARE
Keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock, of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.
Acts 20:28
PASTORAL CARE
Members of the Cathedral Family benefit from the pastoral care of their fellow parishioners. Homebound parishioners and others who need a special touch may receive regular visits, cards, and notes clergy and lay visitors, while homebound parishioners and those in the hospital receive Communion from clergy and Eucharistic Visitors (also known as Lay Eucharistic Ministers).

In order to be sure that Christ Church Cathedral provides the special touch that our parishioners need when they need it, our pastoral care ministries work closely together to provide pastoral care to any who desire it. Our goal is to coordinate and cover the needs of all of our members—those who give and those who receive pastoral care.

Pastoral care is a ministry for all of us. We hope that you will consider being a part of this vital parish ministry.

LAY PASTORAL CARE VOLUNTEERS
Throughout the year members of the Cathedral family care for each other in many ways. If you are interested in participating in pastoral care ministries, please consider the following opportunities.

SERVE ON THE LAY PASTORAL CARE TEAM
Volunteers belong to a team that meets once each month to share information about pastoral care needs, recent visits and upcoming tasks. Team members tend to fellow parishioners through visits, phone calls, notes, and other expressions of pastoral care.

SERVE AS A EUCHARISTIC VISITOR
Each month we send visitors to share Communion with fellow parishioners who, for various reasons, cannot be in church. Eucharistic Visitors discern a call to this ministry of pastoral and sacramental care and generally undergo training as chalice bearers as well as Eucharistic Visitors.

PREPARE HOME COOKED MEALS
Team members make casseroles or baking cookies and deliver them to parishioners. Many home bound parishioners greatly appreciate the comfort of a home-cooked meal or treat. You do not need to be on a pastoral care team to prepare food for this ministry. We do ask that items be packaged in such a way that they can be frozen and re-heated later (in containers that do not need to be returned to you), and labeled with instructions and with ingredients, since some who receive these treats may have dietary restrictions.

FELLOWSHIP
Fellowship, better known at hospitality at Christ Church Cathedral, ranges from weekly time together in the Chapter House on Sunday morning after the service to large-scale celebrations on All Saints' Sunday, and in the annual Parochial visit in April.
The important thing to know is that all are welcome-you do not have to be a "member" to be part of this fellowship.
