The Diocesan Choir Festival is an opportunity for singers from across the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast to come together for a time of learning, fellowship, and song. We welcome adult singers of all abilities. There will be fellowship, workshops, lectures, and rehearsals all culminating in a late afternoon service featuring the Festival Choir.

  • Our clinician and conductor, Bruce Neswick will give a workshop on singing the psalms in service. He will discuss 12 different types of psalmody, give tools on how to choose the right type for your congregation and music program, and discuss methods of implementation.

Bruce Neswick enjoys immense popularity and is in tremendous demand throughout the country as organist, improviser, choral conductor and trainer, commissioned composer, and hymn festival leader. He is a musician whose playing vibrates with energy, is full of radiant color, and always expertly crafted. Mr. Neswick holds the Fellowship degree from the Royal School of Church Music and was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2016 by the University of the South, Sewanee, TN. He is the Canon for Cathedral Music at Trinity Cathedral (Episcopal) in Portland, Oregon.                                                                                                  Bruce Neswick is represented in North America exclusively by Phillip Truckenbrod Concert Artists, LLC.

Dr. Kathryn Hedlund.jpg

Dr. Kathryn Hedlund is a soprano holding degrees from Louisiana State University and is a professor of voice at the University of Mobile.  A native of Big Rapids, Michigan, Dr. Hedlund has vast and varied experience as a performer and teacher.  Recent roles include those of La Suora Infermiera in Suor Angelica with Mobile Opera, and the soprano soloist in Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass with the Eastern Shore Choral Society.
