Dean Beverly Gibson's sabbatical began after Sunday is May 21. She will return on Monday, August 21. While she is gone the vestry, under the leadership of Senior Warden Robby McClure, is canonically responsible for the ongoing life of the parish. For day to day operations the staff is well prepared to insure that everything is "business as usual." Your job this summer is to attend church, support one another, and prayerfully to consider how you will continue your personal ministry for Christ Church Cathedral this fall.
It is important for you to be here on Sunday mornings to worship together and to greet our visiting clergy and our summer visitors as well. There is a vestry person assigned to each of the Sundays the Dean is away on sabbatical. They will greet and shepherd our visiting clergy. The opening team is scheduled each week to get things ready for worship. Our chalice bearers are prepared to assist the clergy during the service.
Our visiting clergy are:
- The Very Reverend Johnny Walter Cook, Dean Emeritus, will be here on Sundays June 25, July 2, July 9.
- The Reverend Marshall P. Craver, who has recently retired from St. Paul's, Mobile will officiate on Sundays July 23, August 6, August 20.
- The Reverend Canon David Johnson, retired Canon to the Ordinary of the Diocese of Mississippi, a member of the Cathedral Family with his wife Nora, will be here on Sundays May 28, June 11. Canon Johnson and Nora are also known as parents to Leigh Rendfrey and grandparents to Wilt and Harris.
- The Reverend Ede Fuller Plovanich, whose last cure was with Nativity, Dothan and who now lives in Mobile will officiate on Sundays June 4, June 18, July 16, July 30, August 13. Ede and her husband Bob are often seen at services at Christ Church Cathedral.
