New Beginnings

Updated: Oct 1, 2019

After last week’s Rally Day start with Jerusalem Greer, we are ready this Sunday to begin our fall rhythm of Christian formation and worship. You will find below a complete list of groups for children and youth, with teachers’ names and locations. Please note that there are some new, temporary locations for classes while upstairs construction is being completed. For adults, this fall we will begin offering the opportunity for brief, prayerful reflection on a portion of scripture in the form of Lectio Divina. You will find a description below. This is a simple way to prepare for Sunday worship by opening heart and mind to God’s Word and resting in silent prayer. Please give it a try!

In last week’s workshop with lay leaders and again in Sunday’s sermon, Jerusalem Greer emphasized that our congregation has identified its growing edge as personal engagement with Scripture. Among the seven practices of the Way of Love, this is the second movement—LEARN “Reflect on Scripture each day, especially Jesus’ life and teachings.” Lectio Divina is a gentle way to integrate Scripture and prayer. On Sunday morning, it is a good way to begin the day in preparation for the transformative power of Eucharist. On a daily basis, it is a helpful way to begin your day with rest in God’s presence as preparation for life in the world. I look forward to worshiping with you Sunday! Faithfully, Beverly+

Jerusalem Greer, the Presiding Bishop's officer for Evangelism, speaks about The Way of Love at Christ Church Cathedral Rally Day Weekend.
