THE COLUMBARIUM

O God, whose blessed Son was laid in a sepulcher in the garden...

Book of Common Prayer, page 503

The memorial garden at Christ Church Cathedral will be a place of tranquility, peace and natural beauty.  Cremated remains of members of the parish and their families may be interred in niches or directly into the ground.

The garden with a columbarium is planned for the south side of the Cathedral at the completion of Phase II of the strategic building plan.  The garden will include a beautiful fountain designed to provide a tranquil setting for prayer and reflection.   As Jesus said, "The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life." (John 4:14).

Columbarium niches are available for $3,500. The cost includes engraving on the granite face of the niche.   In the same area, “green” interment is available for $1000 for those wishing their cremains be buried in the garden.  An engraved granite plaque will be placed _________.  For those whose cremains rest elsewhere, a granite plaque where names may be engraved will also be placed ___________________ at a cost of $1,000.

Contracts, to be drafted by the Chancellor, will be signed by those purchasing space before construction begins.  Preliminary plans and drawings have been prepared by Barganier, Davis, Williams Architects.

The cost of construction will be $_________.   The bid includes site preparation, pavers, landscaping, benches, fountain and the columbarium wall containing ___ niches.

Arrangements for the interment of ashes in the garden are made through consultation with the Dean.
