First, I am very thankful to Sarah Bolt who has helped out a great deal with the youth program. Through her presence and ideas, she has helped to improve our youth ministry offerings. She is also a very good shot in paintball, just ask our youth! Last month, Sarah and I attended the annual Adults Who Work with Youth Conference put on by our Diocese. It was a good opportunity for us to learn from other youth ministers/workers and to hear from the guest speaker, Jamie Martin Currie, Missioner for Christian Formation (Diocese of Texas).
I am very thankful to all the parents and adult parishioners that helped with our youth ministry this year. You all helped in a variety of ways: by chaperoning, cooking, setting up/taking down, driving youth, providing us a river house, and praying for our youth. For those parishioners who donated time, food, and money to ensure that our first ever lock-in and progressive dinner/fast were successes, thank you so much!
Concerning our Sunday School teachers, thank you for all that you do! Thank you for saying yes to this ministry, for taking time out of your schedules to pray for your students, to prepare for class, and then teach on Sunday mornings. Our teachers and substitutes this year are Laura McLeod, Eleanor Inge Baker, Sarah Bolt, Mary Carol Ladd, Banks Ladd, Lucy Moore, Alison Mitchell, Carl Cunningham, Jr., and Canon Wagner.
Another big thanks goes out to Banks Ladd as he headed up the all "fun activities" of the Fun Club! Month in and month out, Banks would lead the children (with the help of some intrepid parents/chaperones) to events like downtown ice skating and the Little Sisters of the Poor Lawn Party. Thank you for your faithfulness and hard work!
A big thank you goes out to all adults and youth who help with our Children's Chapel ministry. Thank you goes to Corrine Betbeze who coordinates and to Kim Ellis, Skip Archer, Robbie Lynn Irvine, Barbara Mitchell, Jordan Chow, Rose Elliott, Tré Mitchell, Elinor Gibson, William Russell, and Anna Frances Weeks. I thank you for helping with our Sundaymorning worship!
Finally, I have a thank you in advance. Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be upon us in short order. It is being led by Alison Mitchell and will be taking place June 7 through 9. This year, our program is entitled Egypt: Joseph's Journey from Prison to Palace. We could use your prayers, donation of time and talents, and for your children and grandchildren to come and participate. Please tell others about VBS!
Have a great May everyone, and I hope to see you at church!
