This Sunday is the biggest, most significant day of the year for the Church—the Day of the Resurrection. On this day, many people who usually don’t find their way to church come seeking to be part of an experience that connects them to something extraordinary. They come, not because they have new clothes and a lunch invitation, but because they sense there is something powerful, life-changing, and absolutely unique happening here that day. They come to receive the affirmation that, no matter what has happened to you, no matter what you have done or not done in your life, no matter who you are, there is new and different life available to you. They come to receive the promise of a new reality.
For those of you who do regularly make your way to church, you may very well find someone sitting in “your” pew. Please, be gracious and generous and loving in your thoughts, words, and deeds. You and your loving reception of them are part of the experience they will have that day. Oh, and there is something completely different for you hear on Easter Day, too—the opportunity to encounter Jesus is a whole new way and to look forward to a completely new way of being in your life because of that.
Please bring some flowers to add to the cross we will lift high above the chancel that day. If your child is within the egg-hunting age range, please bring some plastic eggs stuffed with allergy-safe candy to the church before Sunday morning. The Easter Egg Hunt will take place in the Garden right after our worship service has ended.
But first, we will take our annual parish photo in the church immediately following the service. Please remain in your seats and await instruction from our photographer. We love having visitors and out-of-town family and friends in this picture!
I look forward to welcoming that Happy Morning with everyone on Sunday.
